OPI is by far my favourite mainstream nail lacquer brand. I haven’t found an OPI product I don’t like yet and I have to admit, I have road tested plenty 😉 So imagine my excitement when I received their new BRIGHTS mini set!

opi brights mini set

This lovely little collection contains 5 mini 3.75ml bottles of OPI nail lacquer colours in: My Car has Navy-Gation, I Stop for Red, The Berry Thought of You, Can’t Hear Myself Pink, I Sea You Wear OPI and 1 mini 3.75ml of their RapidDry top coat.  A perfect set to give as a gift, to take on holiday with you or even to try the brand if you are new to OPI.

As discussed before (and the reasons why!) I have very short stubby nails that often grown unevenly, get wrecked, chipped, torn etc. But this doesn’t mean I don’t like them to look gorgeous 😉 So on I went with much excitement to try OPI’s new colours.

In order of my fingers – here we go!

My Car has Navy-Gation – Thumb: When I saw this colour in the bottle I thought it may look a little too harsh and matt on my nail but as you can see it is certainly not matt! It has a beautiful gloss finish and the blue is just divine. Would look stunning with jeans or a blue bikini on the beach.

I Stop For Red – Forefinger:  You know how many red nail lacquers and polishes can make your nails just look cheap and nasty? I have to say that none of the OPI reds I have every tried before has ever given that look and I Stop For Red is no exception. It is a bright bold summery red with a very slight orangey tone. What I love about this colour is it will go with just about any outfit and would look particularly stunning with a ‘little black dress’, a red patent belt and red high heels.

The Berry Thought of You – Middle Finger:  We all know I love pink, and this IS pink! It’s a classy fuchsia pink that is toned perfectly not to look bright or too gaudy. You could easily wear this for both day and night looks, dress it down with simple pink beaded bracelets, a sweater and some jeans or dress it up with some glam silver jewellery (my favourite silver jewellery brand Hiho Silver, if you need some ideas 😉 ) and your favourite dress and pink pumps.

I Sea You Wear OPI – Index Finger:  The first word that popped into my head when I applied this colour was ‘mermaid’. It’s a shimmery sea blue with a gorgeous metallic shine. It catches the light and looks decadent! This one will be on my shopping list for sure 😉  Would look fantastic with white cropped jeans, flip flops and a blue and white top!

Can’t Hear Myself Pink – Little Finger:  Princess pink with a princess shimmer! Oh this is my absolute favourite in the gorgeous BRIGHTS mini set. I cannot believe how much this colour catches the light and alongside the I Sea You Wear OPI, these two make great colour companions if like me you quite often wear two colours together.  I would wear this with anything 😉

Coverage and Durability

One of the aspects of OPI that to me makes them a premier brand is their staying power. Once they are on, they are on! Especially when you use their RapidDry top coat as I do (don’t forget a bottle of this comes with BRIGHTS mini set).  Since painting my nails I have had a bath, washed my hair, washed up, spent 3 hours typing on a keyboard, done a load of lifting and moving of furniture, even scraped off some sticky glue stuff from a package with my nail (now I know that’s not very sexy or smart, but this is probably why I have short nails lol) and my nails are perfect. Not a smudge, chip or anything. Perfect.

The coverage is also very good. Two coats to give a flawless streak free look, topped with top coat to give it that extra sassy gloss we all love. The brushes are of professional quality and glide the lacquer on effortlessly.

Well done OPI on a fab little mini set!
